Where We Stand on Batch 3 and What Comes Next

This update is for those of you waiting on yourt Batch 3 pre-orders - and anyone curious about what’s next for the Monoblocc fulfilment out of the USA. Here's the TL;DR up front:

  • Production of Batch 3 is fully underway, but started later than we originally planned.
  • We're prioritizing existing pre-orders and using bulk air freight to catch up on deadlines.
  • US orders are expected to arrive late July, non-USA orders mid-July.
  • We are launching a new Production Updates section on our Blog page.

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes

Our announced goal was to wrap up production by the end of May - what held us back. The reasons are nuanced. We’ve been negotiating with our eight partner factories to share the burden of sharply increased tariffs (currently 80% on our type of aluminum goods), while also juggling minimum order quantities and stock planning for picking our new U.S. warehouse.

 

We also evaluated whether to send early inventory directly to the U.S. or hold off and ship everything in one consolidated wave. All of that took time - but the good news is: The machines are running now.

Timeline Recovery Plan: Prioritizing Pre-Orders

We’re now tracking toward completing production by the end of June.

 

To make up for lost time, we’re phasing production so that all current pre-orders are built and shipped first. For U.S. customers, we’re using bulk air freight to get these units stateside quickly, of course without any additional cost to you. Non-U.S. pre-orders will ship directly from China via air freight once production is complete.

 

This hybrid approach isn’t cheap, but it gets your gear in hand faster - and we believe that’s worth it.

Improving Communication Going Forward

We are still not the best at continuous updates. A big part of this is prioritizing “doing the work” as opposed to talking about it. But there are always time efficient ways to improve things.

 

Hence, we’ve added a dedicated Production Updates section to our blog so you can track progress in real-time. Each production run will now be named (e.g. “Batch 3”), so you’ll always know where your pre-order stands and which run you’re part of.
