Time for the next update!

 

Most of you now have filled out your backer surveys, which communicates your shipping addresses with us. If you haven’t done so, please fill it out soon! It helps in finalizing logistics arrangements and tax reduction planning.

Product fine tuning

As hinted at before, we are still making Monitor Rig better than advertised and we want you as the earliest of early adopters to benefit from that! 

Custom M12 to 1/4" connectors

While we can’t announce everything yet since we wait on design patents, one (literally) small improvement we can tell you about today are our custom M12 to 1/4" connectors:

 

After testing many options available on the market we set out to develop our own custom M12 to 1/4" connectors. Of course Monitor Rig will continue to be fully ecosystem agnostic, but our connectors improve on what's available by adding a locking mechanism and increased thread length. Small touches, but ones we feel will significantly improve the user experience and will make Monitor Rig even more sturdy.

Custom rods

Another development area has been making our own custom rods. Again any off-the-shelf 15mm camera rig rods with M12 threads will be compatible, but our rods work in tandem with our new connector locking mechanism. And by changing the architecture to have a female thread on one end and male on the other, we can remove the need for M12 to M12 adapters, simplifying and increasing the rigidity of the assembly. One last thing, by integrating the adapter into the rod the path from the rod through to the middle of the Monitor Rig is now completely hollow….feel free to guess what that could be used for in the future ;)

 

Also camera rig rods aren't usually available beyond 40cm, but we wanted more! So we designed and are currently testing 60cm rods on our rigs, perfect for super ultrawide setups!

 

Of course all rods can be extended easily using our rods or off the shelf rods and the common M12 to M12 connectors, but we are always striving for innovation through simplification…it's in the name! 

Production timelines

We are fast approaching the end of product fine tuning. While this pushes out production start by a little bit, our product will be better for it. We had always calculated with some time buffers, which keeps us confident about our end of June delivery promise, while making Monitor Rig even better for everyone.
